The UAE's national referral hospital for cancer, with the country's first comprehensive oncology institute, bone marrow transplant service and long-standing Johns Hopkins affiliation.

Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, opened in 1979 and now part of PureHealth/SEHA and the Abu Dhabi health system, is the UAE's designated national referral centre for oncology and hosts its longest-established comprehensive cancer programme, with medical, surgical and radiation oncology, paediatric oncology, nuclear medicine and the country's first bone marrow transplant service. It was managed for many years in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine and is the main teaching hospital of the United Arab Emirates University College of Medicine, contributing to the UAE national cancer registry and to research on breast cancer in young Arab women, colorectal screening and hereditary cancer. Tawam anchors the Abu Dhabi cancer care network alongside Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
