European Association of Nuclear Medicine

aka EANM

Europe's nuclear medicine society, whose congress and guidelines shaped the clinical adoption of PSMA PET and lutetium radioligand therapy that began in European centres.

Founded in 1985 and based in Vienna, EANM represents nuclear medicine across Europe and publishes the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. Its annual congress is the largest nuclear medicine meeting in Europe and was the early forum for PSMA-PET and Lu-177 PSMA work from Heidelberg, Munich, Bad Berka and other centres before the VISION trial. EANM issues procedure guidelines with SNMMI on PSMA PET, PRRT for neuroendocrine tumours, dosimetry and FDG PET response criteria, runs the EARL accreditation programme that harmonises PET scanners across trial sites, and operates the European School of Multimodality Imaging and Therapy. It advocates on isotope supply and reimbursement for theranostics in Europe.
