Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging

aka SNMMI, Society of Nuclear Medicine

The US nuclear medicine society, publisher of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the professional home of the PSMA and neuroendocrine theranostics boom.

Founded in 1954 as the Society of Nuclear Medicine, SNMMI represents physicians, technologists and scientists in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging and publishes the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Its annual meeting is where new PET tracers and radioligand therapy results are presented, its procedure standards and appropriate use criteria guide PSMA PET, FDG PET and somatostatin receptor imaging, and its Clinical Trials Network qualifies sites and scanners for multicentre trials. SNMMI runs the Mars Shot fund for radiopharmaceutical research, the Value Initiative on access and reimbursement, and dosimetry and radiation safety education, and it partners with EANM on joint guidelines and the theranostics centres of excellence programme.
