Germany's largest private cancer funder, which finances the Oncology Centres of Excellence network and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre certification behind German cancer care.

Founded in 1974 by Mildred Scheel, Deutsche Krebshilfe is funded entirely by donations and finances research, structural programmes and patient information. Its Oncology Centres of Excellence programme has funded and audited Germany's comprehensive cancer centres (including Heidelberg, Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich) since 2007, and it co-created the National Cancer Plan and the Mildred Scheel early-career programmes. It funds clinical trials, paediatric oncology, cancer prevention research and the Krebsinformationsdienst partnership with DKFZ, and it runs the INFONETZ KREBS patient information service.
