Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center
Taiwan's first dedicated cancer hospital, founded 1990 on the MD Anderson model and known for multidisciplinary care and outcome transparency.
The Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center was established in 1990 by the Koo family with early guidance from MD Anderson and Memorial Sloan Kettering, and was Taiwan's first hospital devoted entirely to cancer. Under founding CEO Andrew Huang it introduced multidisciplinary team care, tumour-board review of every case and public reporting of survival outcomes, and it has been an early adopter of stereotactic radiotherapy, brachytherapy and precision oncology programmes. It is known for breast, head and neck, lung and lymphoma care, for cancer survivorship and palliative services, and for an outsized publication record for its size in health services research and quality of care.
