India's largest private hospital group, which opened South Asia's first proton therapy centre in Chennai in 2019 and runs cancer centres across the country.
Apollo Hospitals, founded in Chennai in 1983 by Prathap C. Reddy, is India's largest private hospital chain and operates a network of Apollo Cancer Centres in major cities. Its Apollo Proton Cancer Centre in Chennai, opened in 2019, was the first proton therapy facility in South Asia and treats paediatric and adult patients from India, the Middle East and Africa; the group also runs large bone marrow transplant, robotic surgery, radiosurgery and precision oncology services and participates in international registration trials. Apollo's clinical research and genomics arms and its tumour boards spanning the network make it a substantial contributor to Indian private-sector oncology research and training.
