One of the world's largest paediatric cancer hospitals, built entirely through public donations and treating Egyptian children with cancer free of charge since 2007.
Children's Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357, named after the bank account number to which Egyptians donated, opened in Cairo in 2007 as a charitable, donation-funded hospital providing free care to children with cancer and has grown into one of the largest paediatric oncology hospitals in the world. It offers chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, bone marrow transplant and supportive care under protocols adapted from international paediatric cooperative groups, runs a research and education centre with genomics, biobanking and clinical pharmacy programmes, and has published survival outcomes for acute leukaemia, retinoblastoma, brain tumours and neuroblastoma in Egyptian children. 57357 also operates an outreach and Tanta branch, twinning programmes across the Arab world and Africa, and a health-economics unit on childhood cancer.
