Juravinski Cancer Centre / Escarpment Cancer Research Institute

The Juravinski Cancer Centre is the tertiary cancer centre of Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster University, serving south-central Ontario, with the Escarpment Cancer Research Institute as its research arm. The Ontario Clinical Oncology Group at McMaster, founded by Mark Levine, ran pragmatic trials that changed practice, above all Tim Whelan's trial showing three-week hypofractionated whole-breast radiotherapy is as effective as five weeks, and Ralph Meyer led the CCTG HD.6 trial in Hodgkin lymphoma. Sheila Singh's laboratory studies brain tumour-initiating cells in glioblastoma and medulloblastoma, and Jonathan Bramson's T-cell antigen coupler technology offers an alternative to CAR-T. The centre runs one of Ontario's largest transplant and haematology programmes.
