International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer

aka IASLC

The only global society devoted to lung and thoracic cancers, whose World Conference on Lung Cancer and TNM staging project define the field.

Founded in 1974, IASLC has more than 8,000 members in over 100 countries and publishes the Journal of Thoracic Oncology and JTO Clinical and Research Reports. Its Staging and Prognostic Factors Committee runs the international database behind the TNM classification for lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymic tumours (ninth edition 2024), and its World Conference on Lung Cancer is the annual venue for thoracic oncology trials, from EGFR and ALK inhibitors to neoadjuvant immunotherapy and ADCs. IASLC issues pathology and biomarker atlases (PD-L1, ALK, MET), the Lung Cancer Screening guidelines and the Grading System for lung adenocarcinoma, and its Tobacco Control Committee and Early Detection Committee drive global screening advocacy.
