Intergroupe Francophone de Cancérologie Thoracique

aka IFCT

The French thoracic oncology intergroup, which ran the national Biomarkers France programme showing that routine molecular testing of lung cancer improves survival.

Founded in 1999, IFCT unites French pulmonologists, oncologists, radiotherapists and pathologists in academic lung cancer trials. Its Biomarkers France study (2012-2013) profiled more than 17,000 patients with non-small cell lung cancer for EGFR, ALK, KRAS, BRAF, HER2 and PIK3CA alterations and showed that testing changes treatment and outcomes at national scale. IFCT trials have covered adjuvant chemotherapy, maintenance strategies, immunotherapy in elderly patients and rare thoracic tumours, and the group runs the CLINIVO real-world immunotherapy cohort. It works with UNICANCER, EORTC and ETOP.
