Latin America's leading dedicated cancer centre, founded in 1953, with a large research institute and the region's biggest oncology residency.

A.C. Camargo Cancer Center was founded in São Paulo in 1953 by Antônio Prudente and his wife Carmen through the Fundação Antônio Prudente and is the largest cancer-only hospital in Latin America, combining care, teaching and research. It is known for surgical oncology (head and neck, breast, sarcoma, colorectal and hepatobiliary), one of the region's first robotic surgery programmes, a large hereditary cancer service that characterised the Brazilian TP53 R337H founder mutation in Li-Fraumeni syndrome, and the International Research Center (CIPE) for genomics, bioinformatics and clinical trials. A.C. Camargo runs Brazil's largest oncology residency and fellowship programme and a cancer registry that has tracked outcomes since the 1950s.
