Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital

aka TMUCIH, Tianjin Cancer Hospital, 天津医科大学肿瘤医院

The birthplace of Chinese oncology (an 1861 mission hospital, made a cancer hospital in 1952 under Jin Xianzhai) and a national centre for breast and pancreatic cancer.

TMUCIH traces its origins to 1861 and became China's first specialised cancer hospital in 1952 under Jin Xianzhai, the founder of Chinese oncology. It is a national clinical research centre for cancer, hosts the Key Laboratory of Cancer Prevention and Therapy, and runs one of China's largest breast cancer programmes alongside strong pancreatic, lung, head and neck and gynaecological services. Its epidemiology group produces long-running cancer incidence data for Tianjin, and the hospital has been an early adopter of intraoperative radiotherapy, tomotherapy and robotic surgery. It is a frequent lead site for Chinese breast and pancreatic trials.
