Finland's largest cancer centre and an OECI-accredited comprehensive cancer centre, known for hereditary cancer genetics and functional precision medicine in leukaemia.

The HUS Comprehensive Cancer Center is the tertiary cancer centre for the Helsinki region and Finland's national referral centre for many cancers, accredited by the OECI. University of Helsinki research includes Lauri Aaltonen's discoveries in hereditary colorectal cancer and uterine fibroid genetics, the Hematology Research Unit Helsinki (Kimmo Porkka, Satu Mustjoki) on leukaemia immunology, Sirpa Leppä's lymphoma trials for the Nordic Lymphoma Group, and the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland, where Olli Kallioniemi's group developed drug sensitivity and resistance testing of patient leukaemia cells. The centre coordinates the national FICAN network and benefits from Finland's cancer registry and biobank infrastructure.
