A surgeon-scientist whose low-cost randomised trials, from peritumoral lidocaine to timing of surgery, challenged assumptions in breast cancer.
Rajendra Badwe led the Tata Memorial Centre for over a decade and ran large pragmatic trials in breast cancer, including the randomised trial of peritumoral lidocaine at surgery that improved disease-free and overall survival.
