The Jackson Laboratory Cancer Center

Founded in 1929 by Clarence Cook Little, The Jackson Laboratory is the world's principal source of genetically defined laboratory mice, including the immunodeficient NSG strain that underpins patient-derived xenograft research, and has held NCI basic laboratory designation since 1983. Its cancer centre studies cancer genetics and genomics, the tumour microenvironment and drug response using mouse and PDX resources, with a large PDX repository available to academic and industry researchers. JAX Genomic Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut, extends the institute into human genomics and computational biology, and the Mouse Genome Informatics database is a core community resource.
