Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre

aka H12O, i+12 Research Institute

One of Madrid's largest hospitals, a leading site for lung cancer and myeloma trials and for academic CAR-T development.

The Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre and its research institute i+12 host the H12O-CNIO Lung Cancer Clinical Research Unit led by Luis Paz-Ares, one of the most active investigators in small-cell and non-small-cell lung cancer trials including the tarlatamab programme, and a haematology department under Joaquín Martínez-López that pioneered next-generation sequencing for minimal residual disease in myeloma and co-developed the academic BCMA CAR-T ARI-0002h with Hospital Clínic. The hospital is a major transplant centre, runs paediatric oncology and neuro-oncology services and a phase 1 unit. Its proximity to the CNIO underpins joint translational programmes.
