Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA)
The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance is the largest US ovarian cancer organisation, born from the merger of research and patient-support charities; it funds research and campaigns for universal genetic testing and prevention by salpingectomy given that screening does not work.
Formed 2016 (Ovarian Cancer Research Fund + Ovarian Cancer National Alliance), absorbing the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in 2023. Funds >$100 million in research, runs the Woman to Woman peer programme in 50+ hospitals, advocates for germline testing of all patients and cascade testing, and in 2023 endorsed opportunistic salpingectomy for prevention after the UKCTOCS trial confirmed screening does not reduce mortality. Also produces patient education on PARP inhibitors and maintenance therapy.
