Taipei Veterans General Hospital
One of Taiwan's three great medical centres, with a heavy ion therapy centre and strong lung, liver and gastrointestinal oncology research.
Taipei Veterans General Hospital, founded in 1958, is a national medical centre affiliated to National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and one of Taiwan's most active clinical research sites. Its oncology strengths include thoracic oncology (a leading enroller in EGFR and immunotherapy trials), hepatocellular carcinoma and portal hypertension research, gastric and colorectal surgery, and paediatric oncology. The hospital opened Taiwan's first heavy ion (carbon-ion) therapy centre in 2023 and runs a large cancer immunotherapy and cell therapy programme under Taiwan's special-access regulations. TVGH also hosts extensive registry-based research and Taiwan Cooperative Oncology Group trials.
