Shizuoka Cancer Center

aka 静岡県立静岡がんセンター

A prefectural cancer centre near Mount Fuji with a proton facility and Project HOPE, one of Japan's largest multi-omics cancer profiling programmes.

Shizuoka Cancer Center opened in 2002 as a purpose-built prefectural cancer hospital and research institute and quickly became one of Japan's most research-active cancer centres. Its Project HOPE has performed whole-exome, gene expression and germline analysis on many thousands of consecutive surgical patients, feeding a large regional genomic database, and the centre runs a proton therapy facility, a phase 1 unit and a well-regarded supportive and palliative care programme. It is a frequent lead site for JCOG and WJOG trials in lung, gastric and colorectal cancer and for Japanese registration trials of targeted agents.
