Northwell Health Cancer Institute
The cancer service of New York State's largest health system, with the Feinstein Institutes' CLL research tradition begun by Kanti Rai.
Northwell Health Cancer Institute coordinates cancer care across Northwell, New York State's largest health system, from the R. J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center in Lake Success to hospitals across Long Island, Queens, Manhattan and Westchester, and, after the 2025 merger with Nuvance Health, into Connecticut and the Hudson Valley. Its research arm, the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, carries a chronic lymphocytic leukaemia tradition founded by Kanti Rai, whose staging system is still used, and continued by Nicholas Chiorazzi's work on IGHV mutation status and CLL biology. Richard Barakat, formerly of MSK, directs the institute with strengths in gynaecologic oncology, and the Cohen Children's Medical Center provides paediatric oncology. The institute is expanding cellular therapy and clinical trials across its network.
