KWF Dutch Cancer Society
The Netherlands' cancer charity and the main funder of Dutch cancer research, including much of the work at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.
Founded in 1949 with a donation from Queen Wilhelmina, KWF is the largest charitable funder of cancer research in the Netherlands, supporting basic, translational and clinical projects at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, the university medical centres and the Princess Máxima paediatric centre. It funds HOVON and other cooperative group trials, the Dutch DRUP drug-repurposing trial, prevention and survivorship research and implementation projects, and it runs public campaigns on smoking, sun and screening. KWF also co-funds the Oncode Institute and Dutch participation in European programmes.
