The NCI comprehensive centre for Kansas and western Missouri, active in drug repurposing, triple-negative breast cancer trials and rural access.

NCI-designated in 2012 and comprehensive since 2022, KU Cancer Center covers Kansas and western Missouri and reaches rural communities through the Masonic Cancer Alliance. Priyanka Sharma leads SWOG triple-negative breast cancer trials from here, and the Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation runs drug discovery and repurposing programmes. Research strengths include liquid biopsy, cancer biology and clinical trials in haematologic malignancies and breast cancer. The centre partners with Children's Mercy Kansas City for paediatric oncology.
