Arizona's NCI comprehensive cancer centre, historically strong in skin cancer chemoprevention and Southwestern population science.
NCI-designated since 1978 and comprehensive since 1990, the University of Arizona Cancer Center serves a Southwestern catchment with large Hispanic and Native American populations. It built its reputation on cancer prevention science, notably skin cancer chemoprevention trials led from Tucson, and on colorectal and prostate prevention studies. It runs a phase 1 programme, a Skin Cancer Institute and population-science programmes on border health. Clinical care is delivered with Banner Health in Tucson and Phoenix.
