Cedars-Sinai Cancer

aka Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute

Los Angeles's largest non-profit hospital's cancer enterprise, known for bladder cancer biology, glioma immunotherapy and the Molecular Twin AI project.

Cedars-Sinai Cancer unites the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute with Cedars-Sinai's regional network across Los Angeles. Director Dan Theodorescu's laboratory showed in 2023 that loss of the Y chromosome in bladder cancer drives immune evasion and sensitivity to checkpoint blockade; Keith Black's neurosurgery programme pioneered dendritic cell vaccines for glioma; and the Molecular Twin initiative combines multi-omics and AI to model individual patients, starting with pancreatic cancer. The centre has strong kidney, prostate, lung and women's cancer programmes and a phase 1 unit, and is pursuing NCI designation.
