Auckland City Hospital / Te Pūriri o Te Ora Cancer and Blood Service

Auckland City Hospital in Grafton is New Zealand's largest public hospital and hosts the country's biggest cancer and blood service, providing medical, radiation and surgical oncology, haematology and stem cell transplant for the upper North Island, along with the national phase 1 trials unit and paediatric oncology at Starship Children's Hospital. Its academic partner, the University of Auckland's Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, has a long record in cancer drug discovery, including the hypoxia-activated prodrugs tirapazamine analogues and tarloxotinib, the topoisomerase poison amsacrine, DNA-intercalating agents, and kinase inhibitors licensed to industry, and the university's Centre for Cancer Research coordinates New Zealand's translational and Māori health equity oncology research.
