American Society of Hematology

aka ASH

The world's largest haematology society, whose December annual meeting is where the pivotal leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma results are first presented.

Founded in 1958, ASH has more than 18,000 members and publishes Blood and Blood Advances. Its annual meeting, held each December, is the venue for the major blood cancer trials, from CAR-T and bispecific antibody results to venetoclax combinations and MRD-guided therapy, and its late-breaking abstract session regularly changes practice. ASH issues clinical practice guidelines, runs the ASH Research Collaborative with its data hub and the Sickle Cell Disease and Cancer Clinical Trials Networks, funds scholar awards and global capacity building, and advocates on drug access and research funding. ASH-EHA and ASH-ASCO joint guidelines link it to its European and oncology counterparts.
